Hello. I tried make model simpliest as possible it is 7661 triangles for everithing and three 1024x1024 diffuse textures. Nothing more. Only handpaint. For modelling I have used Blender, for texturing Photoshop 2017 and also Blender. My results: model
or you could just set the padding amount to a higher value you can see it in the above image. Worth noting because its usually not possible with a diffuse or normal map to find 1 colour which will clean up the edges of all islands
gilesruscoe: Was cool being with you and the others on the hangout today :) Like the paint over you did, would definitely work with more a steam punk kind of game :) This is a temp gloss and spec, so I will totally redo those when the diffuse is done ;)
To get the best result you would likely need a custom shader on which the transparency only affects the diffuse term but not the specular term. I believe the default transparency in Painter will mask everything, resulting in the loss of the specular reflection as well on translucent surfaces.
Thanks for the comments guys! here is a character lineup @Fenyce Thanks!! yes it is diffuse only @1stAnd10 Thank you! I am pretty busy building my portfolio up.. but when I have some spare time I will make a tutorial.
Whats the weird artifact on the right door middle panel? Is that in the normal? Overall the door blends into itself too much. Outside of the normal you can't tell the different gold pieces apart. I think putting more variation in the diffuse would help.
I would just blend your two concrete textures within the actual diffuse texture and than use the second blendlayer for your dirt To me at least, it always made sense to use the blendlayer to seperate different materials, not variations of the same material
Here you go, bonkahe! :D I've just started texturing! During the progress I've thought about just making diffuse just to challenge myself. This way I can get artwork that is more different than my usual stuff
Here is a update with the environment I have made to pimp the Drone. I managed to get the entire enviro into 1 2048x2048 sheet. The diffuse is just a colour blockout at the moment. I am also in the process of adding some decals in to break it up a bit.
Thanks guys for all of your comments. I plan on fixing the cloths, I'm still tweaking the shader with only a diffuse map for now. Next couple days I plan on giving the clothing more love and adding his buzz hair cut.:\
