Thank you very much for all of your help. Thought I might as well show what all of this lead me to creating, not trying to hi-jack this thread :D https://polycount.com/discussion/202641/oxygen-generator-room-jonas-roscinas-star-citizen-test/p1?new=1
Which is cool. I dig the first Transformers movie a lot, as a fun, escapism action film, while being very aware of it's flaws. But hearing some people go on about this film like it's the greatest movie with absolutely no flaws is a bit silly. It's a popcorn flick, not Citizen Kane or To kill a Mockingbird or somethin'...
The same as current ones. Just with tesselation. If you really want to get nice example of true next-gen character look at Star Citizen. 100k polys. I guess it depends on how many moveable and sioulethe details there is. You won't give 10k on cloth simulated piece it will kill perfomance.
Usually they model it and then bake to a flat plane, but you can also use other methods to make it easier like you said, using quixel or painter to compose varius detail together. More about this process here. https://polycount.com/discussion/155894/decal-technique-from-star-citizen/p1
Screws and other small details are usually modeled in a high-resolution model, which is then baked down into textures for a lower-resolution model. http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Texture_Baking Another method being used a lot these days is a "decal" approach. See the Star Citizen info here…
@Toku I think the things you are trying to make sense of in the concept are up for interpretation. As you can see not even star citizen stuck to the concept, probably because the things you said were not that functional. I'm just going to try fill in the gaps myself and try and match the feel of the concept.
I think will show up when my billing and tax information is confirmed by Valve, which is a process that might take a while since I'm not an U.S. citizen. Don't worry, based on the answers on the contest questions thread the submission will still be counted in if the tax information verification is the only thing holding it…
For the first time, I've been trying out some world building and props, as well as some NPC's and enemies. My work has always really focused on protagonists and Good Guys so this is a nice change to try out something new ! These aren't the final page layouts btw, it's just to show on here ! The first page is the "Sky…
Canada and Ontario have tax credits for hiring canadian citizens and ontario residents, it means that the government will subsidize a huge portion of the salary in order to create an ontario job. Quebec has the same thing I believe. It makes more financial sense to hire who they can who's already an ontario…
