Thanks! Shortcut didn't work (probably because I use 'Industry Compatible' keymap), but I found the option in the menu (Object -> Parent -> Clear and keep Transformation). Thanks for your help!
I think I can help you with some of these issues: bevel vertex: select the vertex > ctrl+shift+b true local transformation: select the faces > alt+e > region vertex normals
Thats exactly what i said :P Hover over the button and you will see a pop up that says "Transform Orientation" Do you a picture example of this in Max, that i can take a look at?
can you do the last one if you change "pivot center" to active element and "transformation orientation" to normal? and make sure the face you want to align to is selected last so it is active selection
@mook Me when I realize there's a transform tool: Thanks for the nice tutorial, however the process for setting up hotkeys and using the operator ids is something I do already know. Even though my initial issue with the current implementation of the input doesn't change the transform tool does already help a lot. Thx for…
@Justo 1) You can temporarily fill a face on the half-cylinder and either create a transform orientation from it or place the cursor on it and use the cursor transform orientation. I think the cursor orientation setting that Udjani mentioned is found in the tool settings header (right-click the header in the 3D view >…
True but that only works for an individual vertex. The new parallel snapping works for any selection. You kind of can already. Activate any transform and then click the middle mouse button (or drag) to choose the axis you want.
You can have multiple custom 'Transform Orientations' saved to be used. For example align the view to a face or any geometry, save the orientation, then you're able to use it the same way as any other (Global, Normal, etc.)
Qucik question, i am quite annoyed with how blender handles moving objects. When creating a cylinder for example, if i move it, transform it or scale it, i loose the ability to decrease or increase segments. any ways around it?
Agreed, like functions should be next to each other on the keyboard. There is a reason why max uses q,w,e,r,t for the different transform tools, because you can switch with a finger move not a hand move.
