The documentation is definitely inaccurate because it does not do what you described. I sincerely doubt pressing Ctrl+Period will work for you either. But I did what you said and I'm not getting the same results as you are. On top of that, I try to drag the axis to move it around but nothing is happening. Is there any way…
You can easily just make up a "name" for each short cut to help you learn it. I remember in some tutorial I watched in XSI they called T - "Tagging points" just to remember that its for vertex selection, a little goofy, but it works. After you learn it and dont' have to look at the keyboard it doesnt' really matter, but I…
@Udjani You can link in a collection from another Blend file, yes. It will be reloaded each time you open the file that contains the link. If that is what you mean by "realtime", there you go. Though if you mean it would update on it's own directly in the master file when you change something in the linked file, then I…
@Udjani The problem is, that when you "fix" your normals, you are creating custom normals. Any normal map you bake will be based on those. So that means that wherever you export the mesh to, you have to take care that those custom normals are preserved. Two side notes: I prefer using the bevel modifier in contrast to the…
To scale along the normals you would use Alt+S or you can use Solidify/Solidify modifier, if you want a more accurate result. If you want to move a face along its normal, change the Transform Orientation to Normal and then use the Widget or double tap the key for the direction you want to move in. Hope that helps :)
As @SonicBlue said, you don't have to press G/R/S... so long as you have the correct 'widget type' active (the icons in the middle of the header), you can simply left-click drag one of the green/red/blue handles to move/manipulate objects. You can also fix the axis pressing X/Y/Z after doing that (if you want to switch…
What exactly do you mean by constrain to face? Usually you do not draw materials. You would just assign the same material to the faces where you want to have it. Go into edit mode for the mesh and open the Material context in the Properties editor. Then select the faces where you want to have the material applied, select…
@melviso great to hear new stories about people migrating to blender @atticumars in Blender there is no history, you can set the numbers of cuts only when you create the object, even if you move it or if you select it later, you gonna lose the edit options. Its tricky but once you learnt it gonna be fine. @yadoob the asset…
