leilei: are you talking about the current release? Honestly, I haven't verified any of the file types because really, all I use is .obj, .ase (which isn't even on there), and .fbx
You can watch the video for what I'm talking about exactly. For the bevel node you have to have intersecting Geo in the same object and it's effect is weak imo compared to other packages
Nothing on my side, it starts actually really fast. For a second I thought you were actually talking about Maya. Have you tried on a different system? What are your specs at the moment?
this just came up: is there any way built into blender to save and recall viewports - position, orientation and camera parameters. like a bookmark, basically? (talking about the persp/ortho view, not the scene camera).
Talking of the feedback, could you guys help with testing smoothing groups export in Blender? http://www.blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?291881-Exporting-OBJ-and-FBX-physically-break-edges-no-love-for-the-game-making-community
@sinhead just be careful because the recent updates to nodes (especially the additional dimensions for the noise texture) broke the wood grain setup he shows in the talk. I use that myself and I am still in the process of fixing it.
I have to say it was quite comfortable to work with blender EXCEPT you wasn't able to set your own keys .. (talking about version 2.4) but it was possible to get used to it. but I've only done lowpoly modeling though...
Has anyone come up with a decent default light config that doesn't look weird? I'm talking about the 3 point OpenGL Solid lights. Most of the time I'll use real opengl lights in the texture view, or use matcaps.
Anyone want to help me incentivize this? http://www.artforcode.org/node/106 There's an awful lot of talk about people wanting an accurate triangle counter in Blender, and this may be a quick way to get it done. We'll see how Tom's site does.
Does Blender have a way to extend/shrink/walk selected edge loops/rings like in Max? For Max users, I'm talking about the arrow buttons here: The "Select More/Less" menu in Blender unfortunately doesn't have an equivalent.
