Because offset is much better than dragging the manpulator, and in most cases offset will actually create perfectly aligned faces just like the extrude tool, I've tried both since posting the .gif and I also tried selecting edges, but there's no way to do this as far as I can tell unless you do it in two steps which is not…
Yeah it's pretty cool! That's the downside, it needs your subdiv levels so it can compare the lowest with the highest when baking the VDM; it would be awesome if we could just project a bunch of stuff. However, you should be able to use other meshes, just as long as you have the base level in Mudbox as well. A cool trick…
Hello all! I'm creating my own real-time rendering software. And here is some refractions through rough surfaces in WIP state. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eld5k2h4Ulc
matt, have you considered doing a 'save to library' option that exports a selection to a new max file and creates the thumb. could be a nice quick way of saving stuff as you work.
@Malcom Isnt that what Shift + Ctrl + J does? Supposed to create a new layer from selection using cut. It doesnt keep the selection though unless I read that wrong.
Some simple shaders: First, a jumbotron shader that tiles parallax mapped fake bulbs overtop of a render texture: A dirt+grass vertex paint shader that automatically creates shadows for the transistion:
Yeah... well 1 issue or thing I thought about with this, is if I DID create a database of thumbs, it wouldn't be up to date if they delete an object and save their scene, unless a callback detected it, and re-created the thumbs. Right now I'm just rendering the thumbs for the file you want to merge, and storing them in…
Some more cloud goodness from my attempt at creating a cloud modeling addon for Blender... Already posted some details here http://polycount.com/discussion/72805/blender-mega-thread#Comment_2495608 Tonemapped+composited render: Viewport, showing the base mesh, some control particles and a blender smoke simulation to create…
It;s not all pretty pictures, spent the last couple of days creating a tool that generates a visual studio project for building max plugins (2010-2023) from a single simple xml file. #cuttingedge 😪
