Got a question for ya fellas! I'm working on a scene and I want to tighten up the blending between these two textures on my terrain (not a static mesh). Is it possible to do this with terrain materials? I know it is with vertex blending but I'm not sure if it's different with terrain.
With my basic shader knowledge (ie purely UE) I can't go in to the high level stuff, and Unreal won't allow any of its vector transform nodes in vertex shaders. I was under the impression world position was literally world position : ( here's an image of what's going on; top left is what I'm getting, some sort of vertex…
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have been trying to use material functions in UDK for a snippet of vertex blending. Basically i'm lerping 2 textures based off of a vertex color, and a tiling clouds texture (I have 3 pattern textures packed into 1 map). I decided to throw everything into a material function, because I…
For that you might want to use decals. Or vertex blend between a dirty texture and a clean one, check out this awesome tutorial by Lamont in this post, he also goes over an alternative to decals near the bottom of the post. @Lamont: that was a great tutorial btw. You might also want to check out The Snow and Ice of…
I'm having trouble painting vertex colors on FBX meshes I import from 3dsmax. The models are very simple, ones just a sphere. I can paint fine on all the models that come with UDK but anytime I try to use my imported meshes no paint circle appears when I select and hover over the mesh. If I try to click CTRL and paint…
Hey guys! I am pretty new to Unreal and I'm wondering if I wanted to use vertex blending on large areas of a flat floor, can I do that with brushes somehow or would I want to make the floor a static mesh? Love, Daniel
anyone been using vertex shaders? they're a bit buggy. Whenever I add anything to an objects world position just on z (component mask, add constant 1) it goes diagonally, not up in a straight direction as expected. anyone know why or a workaround?
Thanks for the reply snight. Like I said I am able to get it working on existing meshes. So its not an issue of me knowing how to set up the shader. The issue was that I can't paint vertex colors on models imported as FBX files.
How do I make water puddles with edges that fade out. And also can someone tell me how to go about making parts of a floor wet and parts that are dry? Something like this. and this Could try this wet and dry effect with alphas or vertex painting?
Enable Per-Pixel in the Material, and make sure you have a Reflection vector plonked in the Transform node. If you want to use the Custom Reflection Node because you need a Normal Map, you have to add a null Reflection Vector somewhere so that vertex works.
