Yea it can get annoying, but you can also use such occurrences to your advantage. Whenever people come up to me while I am in the process of photographing and want to talk (typically my old cameras attract a lot of attention) I usually use that as an opportunity to take their portrait. And things like people making Victory…
Great photos all around! Xoliul : Looked through the flickr stream, wonder shots. disanski: Continuing with the great portrait work; I especially like this last one. Arac: I really like that second shot of the laundry room, has a rather cinematic quality for me. I recently acquired a new camera; Zeiss Super Ikonta C 6x9…
I handled a C330 the other day at a friend's house; it's a cool camera, big, and I like the ability to change lenses. I got the Rollei and Ikonta off of eBay, it's a risk but there are many great cameras listed on that site, and fortunately both of the cameras I got from it work very well and are in great shape considering…
Some more shots with the Rolleiflex, still trying to get a feel for the camera, and for film in general. Developing B&W film at home is something I'm going to start doing; I have a second bathroom in my apartment that has no windows which is convenient so I can completely block it off from light. I find the experience of…
Yeah thats at 1.4, which has an awesomely narrow DOF. Sharpness is good at 1.4, definitely usable, very good when you consider just how small of an area is actually "in focus" at 1.4. At about 2.8 it is razor sharp, very nice lens. A couple more shots at 1.4: Really, not much more you could ask for as far as sharpness from…
Thank you for taking time to share some of your favorite photographers :) I guess Vivian Maier discovery happened recently because I saw and read the story for her. Really an amazing story. I am definitely getting the book when it is out. Such a fantastic photographer and she kept it all in secret. Will check the rest of…
Which lens did you end up buying? I just grabed a Cosina design Promaster 100mm 3.5 macro(also comes in vivitar, phoenix, and a few others - but same lens). For DIRT CHEAP. It sounds like shit, focuses really slow bu the glass is excellent! I dont have any amazing shots to show from it yet, but for the price, I highly…
Did not expect that kind of language from you EQ :) heh. I kind of understand what you mean Paul. I really don't know almost anything about photography. I try to read up what I find online, but I don't know any of the big names from the past. Thanks for mentioning Garry Winogrand and Robert Frank- I honestly never heard of…
heh :) I started liking the prime lens so much- it really does make you think a lot more :) What I dont like is that when I look through the viewfinder and I start walking closer or further of the object I forget to take it down and often I don't see what I am walking in to :) As I was saying I am not going to get another…
Good deal! That should be a very good starting kit. With that 35-105mm lens you'll be able to see if. A. It is sharp enough for your purposes. B. Which focal lengths are most useful to you. As others have said, mm is the length from the lens to the sensor, but what is really important is smaller = wider, larger = narrower.…
