my very first low poly character 175 tris so far. gonna do the whole body and animate him, so still trying to figure out how to make the chest and shoulders.
gonna model the whole AK family with different magazines/drums and attachments for a imaginary non-fps tactical game, this is supposed to be an AKM :) Not fully finished, was wondering what you are thinking at this stage. 139 faces
You DEFINITELY do want to keep the mesh as a whole. It does help for texturing and especially for animating. But you don't have to, and you won't always want to in all circumstances. Such as adding extraneous pieces like armor and such.
OMG, so many awesome models in this topic and they are not exist to any playable game. Thats so sad... Every time I see a lowpoly model here I can imagine a whole new game for it.
I'm not even sure that's necessary, I mean, I'm not sure how the wheel's supposed to look when in motion or if it's going to be seen at all in game but you would lose those unique reflexions and shadows there by mirroring. My point was it is taking up too much texture space for something so small on the model. Texture wise…
Not only that, but there is no situation in which the whole dozen or so wood planks will be seen in a single shot - save yourself some texture work and do 4-5 planks on a 128x128. The actual wood texture looks great, though.
super dza: I think either the shirt or the face should be changed, because the pixelly shirt and the smooth mouth and eyes looks funny together. Try to keep close to similar texel density across the whole model.
xrg: Two questions; How are you masking faces like that for painting in Blender? And is there a way to load your custom brushes without loading a whole new scene/.blend file (don't really like Blenders defaults)? Great video :)
Hi Guys, this is my first post here and my first >1000 tris character optimised for mobile. It's a whole different workflow from what I'm used to and it's quite challenging. Here's the WIP, any crits and comments would be appreciated!
Hi, I'm new to polycount, and this thread is what made me want to join and also I learn a lot from here. This is my second 3d model in my whole 3d experience. And its for my game Descend Arc for Android.
