I did an R2D2 years ago... I dont think I have it anymore or I'll post it... *looks* EDIT: Found it... Wow this is REALLY shitty, cant believe I used to texture like this... This must be 2, 3 years old now lol!
Making objects for a low poly room Trying to use very little maps (maybe normals eventually here or there) Let me know if you have any feedback :) (pig concept i believe actually came from polycount...forgot the original link >.> )
Work hasn't allowed me to play with Blender as much as I would have liked but I believe I'm making some progress. Any C&C is welcome! Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can mirror texture within a polygon by laying half of it outside the UV space and in texture options, choosing "mirror" in max or "flip" in maya. I saw a post here showing how to do it a while ago.
Vassago: Oh believe me, I know. Hehe. I spent countless hours drawing via mouse back in the day. Pressure sensitivity is incredibly useful but it's possible to get by without it if you are resourceful. One of my moused drawings from way back in 2004:
Paintovers and critiques are ALWAYS appreciated at polycount. I believe the DS does 2k tris per screen. It might be 2k quads (IIRC it has weird quad-loving hardware) but I don't develop for DS so I'm just passing about heresay and halftruths.
No, it's my lowpoly version of Sackboy, from LittleBigPlanet. It's a game made by MediaMolecule and that means all the praise for character design should be headed at them (mainly to Rex Crowle I believe). Check out http://www.mediamolecule.com/littlebigplanet/, it looks beautiful and an awful lot of fun to play.
lol@jthm I used to read that back when i was 10, i believe, my friend had an issue his cousin gave him. Definitely good for some immature giggles, and a read through at any age. Love all of your low poly work, guise
@Legionforce I'm not really feeling the tree texture. It looks like a cobblestone texture was applied to a tree base. The tank is pretty cool though. Reminds me of the tanks on a game that I believe was called Advanced Wars? I can't remember it feels like it's been ages since I've played it.
Der it's even better than I thought. the "~1k limit" I believe usually just applies to the character themselves, not including the props, so you're way under limit. That rifle def can be adjusted though, I see a lot of tris you could easily get rid of
