I've got the best of both worlds: a cat that thinks its a dog. He can keep 'cat hours', like Sectaurs said and use a litter box, but he also runs up to greet you when you come home (and often jumps up on your shoulder for a hug) and he plays fetch, tag, tug of war, and my wife is teaching him badminton.
