I am actually going to wait for PS4 to sync in to the market before I buy it. I made a terrible mistake buying PS3 when it was sold for like $800.00 the first time it was out.
Instead of being jaded, cynical gamers..let's be excited Game Developers and look into the power that the PS4 could give us for our next and new projects. Come on guys, sheesh. Lighten up,
I didn't say the 3DS and PS4 mockup looked alike, I said they both looked like a product designer had never even entered the same planet as the device in question during development.
Yeah I think free PS4 versions (ports) of games like that should be added to your PSN account if you already own them, for sure. Otherwise they're going to come under a lot of (very justified) criticism.
Same here, support for the Rift would make the PS4 significantly more interesting then just about anything else to me, except for maybe full Unity support and an indie-friendly approval process (make it as easy or more then Steam does).
I wouldn't be surprised to see a cell phone contract model with the Durango (and maybe the PS4 will do the same) - they've done test runs with the 360 and I've heard that it worked out great. The iPhone5 16gb without a contract runs about $650
There's still time to make changes. I suspect the reason for not showing the Ps4 box was a sudden change in specs. 8GB of GDDR5 means a huge amount of physical space occupied on the PCB - and everything prior to the presentation indicated less. I suspect this was a recent change.
Price is a serious consideration. The PS4 definitely needs to launch at a lower price point than the PS3 did. $600 isn't going to fly in the current market. Thanks to Nintendo launching the Wii U at $350, the base console price will allow for a little more wiggle room. But $600 is still too much. The PS4 needs to come in…
I was actually a bit impressed by Sony's reveal. The presentation overall was both tasteful and effective. It didn't have the kind of wizz-bang spectacle that usually pervades these events, but that kind of thing is a better fit for a circus like E3 anyway. Keeping it clean and professional was a good choice for the…
Sure but might as well pop a compatible drive in there now, if they're planning on having another long cycle console. Sony are pushing the 4K format the hardest of all; rolling out 4K cameras and the like. Either there will be a compatible drive from the beginning or it'll be part of a PS4 Slim.
