Been working on my little character here for a little while. Maybe 95% there. Still needs proper lighting, turntable, etc. Missing a few textures here and there. And I need to pose him. Any critique would be cool.
Love that style Jim, and I love the subject matter, the whimsical and cartoony mixed with real-world stuff, telephone poles and metal signs etc. Reminds me of early disney films like 101 dalmatians and rescue down under.
Nice scenery Geck, I like the style you chose. I'm still mid-sculpt for this character; you won't be able to see the butt etc when I finish the skirt section. It's actually supposed to be splint mixed with scale.
Here's the actual mesh with textures in marmoset :D I was baking everything out over the weekend, and laying down the basic colors, I'll be doing a polish pass (scratches, grease..etc) for next week, hope you guys like it!
That print looks excellent, hazardous. Makes me want to try out some prints myself but I'm too scared of the whole different modeling process(no holes etc). @ysalex: Very nice! Here is a female character I'm working on. She's a fairy ;)
I'm just constantly practising heads, so I can try to instill some life into their faces. This was a 4 hour speed sculpt - I decided to mess around with the render settings, 3d Posterize etc, it's pretty fun! Comments and crits welcome :)
Nearing completion. Still need to make some small details between the wheels, the end of the barrel and the tracks themselves. After that I'll be playing around with the lighting to get a good high poly render and then making the lower poly model and baking etc to render in UE3.
When you can clearly see obvious mirroring would be my guess. Mirroring is great for lowering the size of textures or UV space, but is a pain in the arse when you have detail like rust etc because you can clearly see an obvious mirror.
I'm working on my first game character (I want to become familiar with the whole workflow / retopo, baking maps, etc.)! :) Don't hesitate to give me some advices! Crosspost from my thread: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1962030#post1962030
It's actually a really nice character, and I would like to see him/her properly rendered with soft hair etc, I think he/she would be fairly cute -- but the way it's rendered right now I feel like it might murder me in my sleep.
