The detail map is a tiny bright green square that is not used by any of his default textures. It's commented out in all of the .vmt's. Was this ever fixed? Try launching a local game against bots and then use the upper left button to go back to the main menu while the bot game is still running in the background.

Before you submit there should be portrait option, just browse through every page in the importer. When you find the correct button, probably labeled something like portrait, you can edit the portrait using Valve's light system. You can change camera angles, light intensity, etc.
Same thing here, whenever I open the test client I only have access to the options menu and that tutorial map, no other buttons whatsoever. Hope they implement it in the next beta update this week, I'm very curious to see my items in game without needing to resort to doing all that extraction thing :)
I think the lesson to take from this is... valve needs to consolidate 'Sets' separately from collections, and have them only take up one slot on the weekly lists. Your textures should be exactly 1 square to the right of your UV space. So click the button at the bottom left of your UV screen options, should look like a crosshair, then type 1 in the U space and hit tab/enter. That will move your mirrored UV's 1 square to the right, and you should have no problems from there.
