Thank for the feedback. I worked on the base, adjusting the proportions as suggested but then decided not to spend too much time on body details once I got the proportions right. Well, most of the body will already be covered in clothes. So, I started blocking out some shapes for the clothes. Here is a 3/4 view with…
I agree with Axi5. As a beginner you should learn to model these things first before using pre-built meshes. For both practice and experience. It's like the difference between a 'script-kiddie' and a real programmer.
Worked! Thanks for all the help so far throttlekitty. If you don't mind I have another related problem. When I try to rotate the base joint of a finger forward on the x axis, the vertices are deformed dramatically in that direction. I'm not sure whats causes this and it persists even after changing the normalization mode.
Hi, EarthQuake said Marmoset follows Maya standards, which I'd like to know. In my experience it works with plain X+ Y+ Z+. I may be wrong but results seem right. I hope someone can confirm. I usually bake with every axis positive, then use the "Flip green channel" checker in 3ds Max.
Well, badcog beat me to most of the issues. One issue which hasn't been mentioned is the attachment point of the front fork to the rest of the chassis. It's only attached at one point and seem frail. I mean all of the weight of the bike and rider are ultimately transferred through the front and back wheel as these are the…
If possible you should strive to make your UV islands into axis aligned (non-rotated) rectangles as that makes it a lot easier to efficiently pack them. You also get the added benefit non-aliased lines when you need straight edges on your textures, as you probably will on a castle/tower. Most projects like this would also…
Only if you're clicking below and imagined axis that quarters the viewport. If you're exactly on that axis you'd be doing a perfect rotation. Of course, you never are, so you're always correcting by moving the mouse close to that line, but it is close enough that you can rotate around the model endlessly by dragging left…
