Triangles may produce artifacts in animation mostly, and some smoothing/lighting problems, since a triangulated mesh may not have straight lines. Also, you cannot automatically multi-select edge loops or rings if u work with a triangulated mesh, giving you extra time to select every individual edge of it. As people above…
i agree with roughing up the edges of the wood, and building the wall. this would help you break the symmetry you have going on and give the prop some character. its also missing the rocks on the bottom from the concept, which im assuming the door would rest/stop against. not sure how those rings are staying up, as i cant…
Nice job so far. I'm a fan of Yamashita's work so I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on this. The actual "wings" parts look kind of small. I think she's a bit thicker in the limbs than the illustration, and maybe her legs could be longer, but other than that the shapes look pretty good. She could probably use more…
It depends on whether you want to run with the Nordic Thor or the Marvel Thor - The original version had red hair and beard, and a magic belt of strength and magic gauntlets to go with his magic hammer. The Marvel version has the blonde hair, weird round studs on his armour and the winged helm which appears to be taken…
Below is the original concept art by Giorgio Grecu Above is my final beauty screen captures for this project, notice the upper right corner for the main changes I made on this update. A close up of the plants and more details can be seen in the foreground. I hope you guys like this one. It's my most current single person…
Slow but steady progress being made on this, starting to define areas, searching around a bit on the best way to get very subtle skin creases for the skin stretching on the muscles. I have at least figured out the veins and how to get them blended in. Also starting to define facial features... I gotta remember not to go…
Pretty great work, awesome texturing. Only comment I can really make (As I am not the best critique-er) is that your spec maps need a bit of work. I feel like the metal vs wood specularity doesn't change much at all on any of your works. IE the reflection on the baseball bat's ring shouldn't be the exact same reflection as…
Nice that you missed how I have a PS3. I didn't like the Sony press conference because it didn't present anything that ringed awesome for me other than Uncharted 3. Microsofts press conference stopped being good after the gears 3 footage, then got good again with the Halo reveals, too much Kinect. If you're so hurt about…
Hey, yea, I'd love to know all I could about what's been causing this. Other than my lack of organization. :S In that vein... I just thought of something that could maybe cause it? I use the MJ Poly tools pluggin for Maya, mostly just so that I can use the connect too. (As well as select ring and select loop). Could that…
The scatterer and randomizer tools let you paint instanced geometry that aligns to a surface normal. If you've got an edge-loop/ring that runs around where you want your rivets, you can select it, convert the selection to a shape(spline), and use the spacing tool to instance your rivets around the new spline. It gets the…
