When it creates a texture called BaseMaterial [Normal], it's doing this so that 3DO can preview what you're working on. To avoid that, put all assets you plan to convert into a folder called NORMAL and work from there, assuming you have the NDO scaling layers above and below the NORMAL group. You might want to take a read…
Great advice from Bek and Qauck! I personally duplicate my specular map folder in photoshop, set everything up in layers and groups. Then I go about making layers with solid colors with the main gloss value I want, then I add the dirt, dust or scratches that is in the texture and so on. Also all the maps have to work…
I've bought factory refurbished wacom products and they were as good as new. It would depend on how much less a used one from ebay/craigslist was. The Yiynova MSP19U seems pretty decent once you solve the pressure sensitivity issues by doing this: open up notepad and type the following two lines # Use WinTabUseSystemStylus…
@musashidan @Jerc I've used zbrush4r7 to export the highpoly fbx and maya 2016 for the lowpoly one. I've tried exporting to all sorts of folders on my computer but it still doesnt work. Currently I've just imported the lowpoly as an obj and it reads fine BUT whenever i try bake by name from the highpoly fbx the software…
Madman you are in my head man! I originally planned to add like a dry icey looking fog to the floor and around the cryochambers. I was thinking of doing that as the last step because I really haven't done anything like fog or steam yet in UDK. It is definately something that I do want for this scene though and had thought…
Generally speaking, it's best to make sure that you export all rather than export selection, export selection can miss parts of the rig that are essential for the animation to work. Also, anything like "bake animation" should be turned on in the export settings. A quick check that you can do is try loading the FBX file…
Status Update: The leg is nearing completion of it's basic shape stage, and the NARC beacon is in place, waiting to be attached to the torso. I need to import the leg to my large scene folder, and am giving serious thought to redoing the ammo feed. I spent some time attempting to make rails for the feed, with no success.…

Wow, so I guess I neglected this for a bit! You can disregard my previous post... since 38 went under I am now a Senior Environment Artist at Trion Worlds in Redwood Shores! Having a lot of fun so far. I've done some cleaning up of my Dropbox folder so some old images may not be there anymore... but wait! I brought more.…
HAHAHA Great character. I love it. I agree with Maph on the cloth, and Cordell Felix on the star patch. It would look a bit nicer if stood out just a little more. As for me I would have liked to see a more classic "L" on his hat. The cursive style font just looks a little out of place to me. I personally would have liked…
