This is pretty much the problem with everything, nothings original anymore and we are all so used to comparing things, but seriously, I think its all about thinking up something cool for your personal work and making it kick ass, no matter how unoriginal it is. -

DUBYA OH DUBYA WOW. Video 4 was just so amazing, I can't describe it. I absolutely cannot WAIT to see games that utilize this engine. Half-Life 2 ain't got shit on video 4. Seriously fucking impressed here. -

This is complete bullshit. Being charged for air. I seriously wish there was an alternative in NC...aside from very low end DSL packages. But, I will go with the slower internet out of the principal of it. This is what happens when companies obtain monopolies in areas. Sad times. -

Arrrgg... it is probably all well ment, but all this commandline nonsense will seriously frighten any n00b. Right now Linux (with a proper distribution like Ubuntu) is at a point were you need the commandline about as often as you need it for XP (= never, or at least almost). -

Seriously, I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. The only games that have 'LIVE' in there name is EA's NBA live and now Lumines Live. Maybe you were easily confused because there are just so many NBA Lives out there. -

It's good to start from the simplest choice and only go up from there if necessary. So I'd start with blender since it is robust and totally free, and if after much use it seriously lacks something you need, then that great perpetual license for zbrush is still there. And you already know it works.
