What threat?, mobile gaming targets a whole other market, the nes didn't die when the gameboy came out, and the iphone most definately Different experiences, different platforms, and the difference in being able to power a portable device and having to power another through an outlet.
Everything is looking a bit blobby curenty, especially the details in the front. You should work on getting harder, more defined edges and forms. Try to get as many high res reference images if you don't already have multiple and really make the forms pop.
I have a [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/UltraSharp-2009W-20-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B002DKB92I[/ame] timwiese, define 'quite well', I am want a vertical viewing range to be a solid as the standard landscape orientation. Anything less is just going to be annoying. ;)
Dunno, this doesn't seem like such a far stretch from the original. Looks like a really nice beefed up sequel to me. I have no doubt there'll be eerie, atmospheric moments plugged in there. They just aren't making it the focus of their marketing ploy. Definately looking forward to it.
The looks great, but it seems to me that it is longer in the original picture. I'm saying this because it seems like the original has more spine bones. maybe it's just me, but i estimate there are more like 13 vertebrae. besides that small detail, the shape of the bones are well defined.
lookin pretty awesome tadao. only crit ive got is that if you are gonna make him beefy, slightly define his chest a bit more in the shirt, so that the wrinkles really look like they are being pulled as opposed to just kinda hanging there. keep it going
Hi Mop, that doesn't appear to additive looks more like unlit or emissive. Ie stacking a bunch of those textures in front of each other doesn't get any brighter. This is a neat trick though I can definately use it to in this particular case as a work around.
There's a lot of research being done in automated 3d modeling. Take a look at the latest SIGGRAPH papers. If anything you make has a defineable ruleset, this can start to be automated. For a long time to come though we'll still need talented artists to make customized content.
understand that it all depends on you and your choices, simple choices will define how commited you are, like choosing to write this post instead of modeling a simple pencil or a simple object . I know lots of artists that had to struggle harder than you and still made it ;)
Her cheeks look a little flat just underneath her lower eyelids making her appear a little less feminine. Perhaps pulling them out and softening them abit could help. I think the body proportions are definately there though. Keep it up.
