I agree with ZacD, dont be afraid to start over, I know its an assignment so starting over is probably out of the question, but in the future remember anatomy and reference are your best friends especially when your doing faces. Always create it on the lowest level, otherwise even stepping up and down subdivision levels can mess them up. That low poly version could lose a ton of triangles. I bet you could easily bring it down to something like 500 triangles or less. Remove anything that doesn't affect the silhouette. Triangulate faces, you dont need all the edges to run through the whole blade. How many faces do these cylindrical shapes on the handle have?… -

The hair is much larger than the eye, it probably could use more uv space for its detail. The skull belt is small geometry but large uv space. I'd shrink the uv's to make room for other object's detail. The face looks very symmetrical, but it's uv's are not. You could either paint more non-symmetrical face detail or get… -

Why exactly do you thing this pose would need twists? naturally it would be better in that case that you twist the hands so they are facing inwards not upwards, right now you would need to rotate the hand by 180° if you want them to face down, if you have them facing inwards you only need 90° for up and 90° for down. Also…
