Hello! First, sorry for the lack of updates. Secondly, the deadline has passed, so I'm posting some screens of the result we have so far. We're aware there's a lot that can be improved, which we also might do when there's time available. Same goes for changes in the level layout. Ofcourse, feedback is still appreciated! -
Re: creating specular maps
Creating your own specular maps is a much better practice. I would render an ambient occlusion map in xNormal and overlay my UV layout on that in Photoshop/GIMP/whatever, then paint my specular map on a new layer(s). You can blend in the ambient occlusion map where needed too that way. Good luck. -

I have started a new run and disabled the Rendered Frame Window. Maybe the Ram is used mor efficiently now ;) . If it fails again, I think I'll have to rearrange the Layout and render separate smaller NMs for each part. Splitting the Render in 4 parts might also do the trick...I'll have to look into that.... -

I think its a good start I like the colors you've chosen, only early days but have you thought about light sources? It would be nice to see some variation in the lighting (some dark/light areas). Maybe fill the room layout with proxy meshes so you can plan this better? -

Depends what your uv layout looks like. - You could split smoothing groups at the UV shells ( my favorite ) - You could keep it all on one smoothing group ( first option is better imo ) For option 1, you can run a script inside "TexTools" that splits the smoothing groups at UV shells. :) -

Hey man. So..I'm not completely following you here...a picture would make this a little easier. So, does the actual position of the cable move? or does it just follow a path? If the shape of the cable doesn't need to change, then you can have an animated UV layout so that the texture scrolls instead of the mesh actually… -

Maximise as in to squeeze all the texel density you can out of your layout. What is your intention? To have 3 separate sets of 1K maps? What I'm saying is if you bake all the meshes to a comped 4K map(for example) and chop it apart into 1K maps then you are losing out on valuable UV space. -

like how you would expect it? last time i tested it (in painter) it would export flattened metalness, albedo, roughness etc and not all layers. If i can define how stuff will be named and grouped this would work for most clients, as everyone has their own layout I can't just export in the order of creation.
