Cool. Sounds like you had a different problem though, you should never have to delete and recreate to solve something like this. Sounds more like a misunderstanding of how the gizmo orientation works. A screenshot would help a ton.
I honestly dont know how to thank you. for the first time i got help that actually worked first try haha. Im really grateful Ged thanks alot it solved all the problems i was having :D
Usually when this happens to me I first try doing a check mesh and fix. (Geometry>Mesh Integrity>Check Mesh Integrity then use Fix Mesh) If that doesn't solve the issue I export out the subtool and re-import it.
I was just using far too many high res textures..... Oops! Problem solved. Quick update, worked on some more textures, lighting and fleshing out the rest of the structure to the scene. C&C always welcome
Just want to chip in about how I've had identical experiences to joeriv. If you can get quality legitimate blueprints, there great. otherwise they're going to cause more problems than they solve if you follow too closely.
I think this is solved by changing the Object Properties of the lowpoly mesh to be not visible to the camera. Because when baking with Mentalray in 3ds Max, it renders both meshes for some dumb reason. It could also be this: http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Texture_Baking#High_Poly_Materials
Floating separted geo is fine; at best , you're looking at problem solving with the rigging. 168k polys is more likely than not to be used in a video game. There's a lot of polys you could be saving, like on the helmet and other non deforming objects.
Letting the engine triangulate it out instead of fixing the Ngons is just poor workflow and using unnecessary algorithm from the engine to solve it. I am not stating that it's wrong, just that it is frowned upon. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117108
Glad you solved it. What I was talking about is in the material properties: https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Engine/Rendering/Materials/MaterialProperties/index.html#material See where it lists "domain"? That's where I was talking about if it was set to decal or not.
thank you all for the feedback! ill be working on the 3d model to solve some stuff. Ill eventually want to render these with color, but since design is still up for changes ill be leaving it as a line drawing! More feedback is always welcomed!
