If you install Neil Blevins' script collection, his objectDropper will do #1. http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_tools/scripts/3dsmax/soulburnscripts.htm For #2, have you tried the standard 3D snapping? You do need to adjust settings to make it work in a similar way to UE4. Also, which version of 3ds Max are you running?
2016.9.25- - -10.3 By analyzing the Model in the 3dsMax, it was found the Model was composed by the following three static components. The Model was exported to 3DXchange by FBX format and found the Size was too big and no texture was shown. The Model texture was found as DDS format and converted to JPG by using Online…
Well this MtId baking system is frustating for me or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anyway I finally did it by exploding entire high poly into pieces, cause it looks like this tool doesn't work with 3dsmax MtlIDs, and in the end I got 35 high poly meshes and 15 low poly meshes for baking.
hmmmm.... sorry to be the one to tell you this, but I honestly think you should take a step back from 3dsmax, and study traditional art for a while, and then come back to 3d in a few years. here's a link from another forum that may help you out. http://www.eatpoo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27
* Dealing with the horror-movie that goes on underneath 3DSMax's hood. * I get heartburn all the time. * I reek of producer. No amount of showering can get the stink off. * I hate meetings. * I secretly (no so secret anymore!) wish for a bazooka so I can point at my head and leave nothing to chance.
This is your first model? Well that's at least better than mine, a teapot:) I think if you read up some tutorials and the 3dsmax help file and you will do fine. Good ones are @ ben's site www.poopinmymouth.com and www.3d-palace.com and 3dtotal.com soo that's something to get you started. Good luck with your model!
Well, I guess I'll just scale the skin down to something like 128x128 then. Don't judge the skin too harshly yet though, I was planning on overlaying it with a cel shader once I put it ingame. The hair also does have an alpha channel, I just couldn't get it to look properly in 3dsMax.
You should also try out Silo or wings3D for modeling and use another app like Blender or Milkshape to export to a game format. Silo isn't free, but its cheap. It doesn't do all that 3dsmax and Maya can, but its pure hot-buttered joy on a stick. The work flow is easy to pick up and easy to customize.
ROFL - awesome image. Jett12 - I can't open it right now as my PC is running out of memory - but I think you can turn up the strength of the bump effect - I think in the same way you can in 3dsmax (though I think you're using maya so that maybe totally meaningless to you. )
The most obvious thing to try is to disable Aero. since that thing is 3D, it taxes the vidcard. 3D windows are most certainly the dumbest OS feature ever invented... Also 2010 has UI features that are now known for slowing down things. I would say go for a fresh 2009, it's supposedly the best 3DSMax available.
