Going to be working on a throne room built in a successful Dwarven Mining complex. Inspired by Lord of the rings/Hobbit and I want lots of stairs because stairs are cool! It should also give me a few areas where substance Designer should excel over other programs and I am looking forward to exploring what it can do! Here…
This is the project that I'm currently working on! In the beginning, I was following an Arwen's drawing (Lord of the Rings) as concept art, but in the end, I decided to do it on my own. I'm also pushing it to a more Blizzard / Overwatch style. What I'm doing now is refining the hair and making some tweaks to it be more on…
thanks RomainD! :) Did some baking tests but didnt get a nice result yet, havent baked from one mesh to another many times and got a ton of things to figure out. Also tested how I'd make the grey lines on the glove. Still not properly placed though :) I cant tell what the material on the base of the glove is supposed to…
I think you could still push the wooden materials further. To me they still seem more like a brown mass than wood, even in your reference picture you have a lot more contrast and color variation going on. I also feel your smoothness variations could be stronger, but this might just be from the current lighting. See how in…
I thought I had upped the exposure bias in photoshop after taking this enough.. perhaps not. I need to sort out my gamma. Quick update to address glaring things I noticed just now: Upped the polies in the gas planet and added a ring, then added exhaust cones to the thrusters/engines. Any tips on how to really get a sense…
I really didn't intend for it to fold in but that also, for some reason, didn't cross my mind. ;) I am planning to do some kind of brushed metal textures for the main body. As far as the large cutouts with the red rings I had planned to do some kind of red, emissive texture. The logo in the middle will probably be a mix…
oh. I just recently played through the first missions of Quake on hard during my lunchbreaks. 2,3,4 worlds are locked in this version unless you ring someone up :? but it was still fun. Might need to buy it on steam at some point. http://www.playhub.com/fullscreen.php?fid=2598 also started watching the playthrough of…
I am having a bit of trouble with this. Im not sure what to do. I made this bag and the things sitting on it as different subtools. I wanna connect the things (feather, map, container etc.) to the ring. but to do that I need to merge the objects. Is this the right way to do it? or is there another way? like for the…
Looking forward to seeing the weapon finished and what pose you choose to show it off. That moodboard seems to ring pretty true with what Bardler said about a strong key light too — maybe the pose with the weapon will be ideal for that too (like the image in the bottom right corner). But I expect I'll see you playing…
Thanks Klown! Its great fun working like this. I can only share what i make in my free time on my blog, but i can share screenshots of some commercial work. Can you show me how the final results look for your wood? Would love to see it. For the knots you can use the dynamic gradient instead of a manually created one, that…
