Update on this. The LCD panel that Sager replaced has is starting to show the same defect as before (blotchy red groups of pixels visible when viewing dark images). Looks like it may be a systematic problem with the panel in the NP7330, which I assume is the same one in the NP7338. Very frustrating and disappointing. -

Is there a hotkey in mudbox to instantly get the raw color of the pixel under the cursor similar to coat? Is there a way to ahve hue\sat\value randomization per stroke like in ps and coat? Those are the two main ones for me. Oh, and a curve or soemthing to control the drybrush how far ir reaches ? -

My kid self use to guess what all those pixels looked like back then. Now 20 years later, I get to appreciate the best strategy game ever in crystal clear detail. Amazing job all around to the Starcraft team from a long time fan. -

Well, cool for the Wii, like normal mapping and soft shadows and multitexture. Usually can't do nm without pixel shaders but the Wii has these texture stages that you can mix things around in. I hear ya about the memory limits. Have to be creative! And really dissect the competition. -

That's it. Apply a texture to it so you can see it tiling. You should also research texel density - figuring out how many pixels per meter you want to use. I don't know much about current gen specs, I'm guessing 1024 per meter? -

This is a really neat idea. So does it basically look for areas with highest rates of change, and allocate more pixels to those, with less for areas of less change? What other heuristics does it use? Maybe overlap UVs for instances with similar lighting? Personally I'd like to see this in Unity and Unreal. -

Yes the camera needs to be that far back, for gameplay it should actually be even further, but I can not zoom, I would have to re render all the sprites for that. Technically you could, but then everything would not be pixel perfect anymore and that would be a horrible trade. Youre right with the color, but that will… -

Great breakdown - I was wondering how did you tackle the Lightmap UVs on these? Because when i try things like this I end up with seams after I bake lighting What was your solution to this? Even if I do snap the uvs to the grid at the correct pixel size -

Thanks, but while upping the lightmap resolution fixes the problem at first glance temporarily, after building lighting I still have the same issues. I'm pretty sure I need to fix the layout of my lightmaps themselves, snapping the edges of the shells to the grid and ensuring there are enough pixels in between. -

What you have to remember is that normal maps records directional data and not depth data, so if your chamfer is so tight that it doesnt register as a pixel, you will not see anything. So keep your mapsize in mind when modelling. Sometimes you have to twist reality to your needs ;)
