Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I've actually been following 3dflashers piece as he's progressed. There is no lighting in this scene right now. Basically it just has an ambient light to create some mood. I want to focus on lighting this as soon as I get it in engine, so I'll focus on that later. I am really early in…
Nice work on your scene. Okay, first of all, that black background is totally killing it for me, there's no such thing as a black sky; at least use a color and you can make it really dark. Your textures make everything look really new, unless that's what you want, but it would be more interesting if you break it up more.…
Saw it last night. Lotsa fun action sequences, and not all of them were robot-on-robot slugfests. It was refreshing to see them have a lot of variety to the fighting scenes The story was suuuupppper silly, like Andreas said. It's a shame to see so much work go into the action/CG/wittydialog/character building while the…
First blush, the outside area is just killing any composition you have going on. Blown out that badly, it just dominates any scene that it's in. It commands my attention when I don't think you want me looking there ... The scene is a little muddled for me. I can't tell what a lot of the shapes actually are and you have a…
I don't use that program but I'm going to guess at either a problem forming the vertices going from MDL to SMD with the StudioCompiler (Did you do the renaming thing? And what SDK did you configure it to use?), or maybe bones causing the problem. Do you have an option to skip animations when importing? When I imported…
Depth comes in two varieties, (sorry i'll use ue3 terms dunno what proper ones are) Pixel Depth is the distance from the camera to the pixel on the object. Scene depth is the distance from the camera to the pixel on the scene either in front of the object or behind it. With pixel depth you can make the object change color…
Good question there breakneck. The sword mesh is NOT done. A few days before I left for Colorado (where I'm at now) my 8600GTS(or GS?) came and I forgot to load it on my laptop!! This week is my "Get my scenes done" week ... but life just so happens to make it that I don't get all of it done. When I get back home I will…
Sadly, not a huge update today. Been hitting lots of bumps in texturing, I don't think UDK likes plain textures very much. Also tweaked lighting again Thanks for the past feedback. I agree I need to push and pull more polys in the cliff/rock area. For lighting, I've basically followed the lighting in Eat 3d's UDK dvd, but…
Update: Scene is starting to near the end. Added my landscape mat which needs a bit of work but is coming together and I also grabbed some free speed trees from their website and threw them in the background to help make my scene feel more placed. I also added some lanterns and fog which hopefully adds a bit more…
I believe that the lighting in this scene is to generic and bland. Almost as if those were working lights. I could see some bloom on the sides of the dock that the sun is hitting, with some nice reflections and glimmers from the water, with shades of greens and blues. More dramatic shadows that give the scene mood. I can…
