One tip is to do all your major key poses in stepped and then all your breakdowns in linear. You can playblast in stepped but periodically check your work in linear to adjust any timings as you go. Plus, it will save time on potentially putting in a ton of breakdowns, realising that you need to cut the timing and then…
Figured I would resurrect this instead of a new thread. I'm in the market for a new monitor, but having trouble finding info about how a monitor might affect a linear workflow, or if there is anything I should know about it color wise. I have been working a linear workflow in vray, but am unsure how monitor technology…
Sorry for the lack of updates but my week was packed... Here is what happened since last week. I decided to go with thumbnail 3, polished the lineart a bit before playing around with colors a bit. It looked awful at first but I got some super helpful feedback from a friend and managed to save it. Now I masked out…
All the default settings in Vray should give a pretty much great result, no need to do anything and worry about "linear workflow". Well, depending on what you need, just simply pretty renders or the setup needs to be linear. How does your result look like in Vray Frame Buffer? If possible, share some screenshots.
Thanks guys. EmAr I will look into that. Tonights update. The shirt is untextured and has no fine detail. Also, the materials are not linear, breaking my linear workflow and blowing the white and blue out. Eyes are also colorless it looks like, but now they are more realistically modeled and hopefully in the end I can get…
Hey kamih, I just want to drop in to say: Awesome tool you did there. It solves so much when doing lineart in PS. And on top I can use it in 3d coat or anyother sculpting / painting application as well. Just send this arround at work and my boss instantly ordered 10 site-licenses. So everyone is enjoying it here now. Keep…
Is your glossmap in linear or srbg colorspace? Did you set your display and import settings for marmoset and unreal to equal values? Toolbag 2 for example has a checkbox for each map typ which specifies if its srbg or linear space. I guess in the old UDK there was a import option with a srgb on/off checkbox, so maybe…
Took me a bit to understand what was going on with her pose - I think because of her huge bottoms and breasts. I would make them bit smaller. Also, I would remove the kunai-like weapons on her thigh - I think it doesn't fit the rest of the concept. Her boots could be more 'planty' as well. Good lineart though and I like…
BagelHero is correct! Typically if you're authoring your content in photoshop, you'll want them to be sRGB in toolbag. Exceptions to this are normalmaps (these should NEVER be sRGB) and gloss/roughness, which are better in linear format because gloss/roughness themselves are linear math conversions. However it's not…
The traditional workflow is to model, uv, texture, animate. But it's an iterative process in a pipeline. Assets get thrown up and down the pipe all through a project. It certainly doesn't have to be linear but if you're learning a workflow and want to avoid headaches/workarounds then keep it linear until you fully…
