which method usually is better for subdive left or right? the left, less loop but less control than the right side. so if anyone can light me which one better specially if it was more complicated thanks.
@FrankPolygon Hey Frank, thanks for the extensive answer. I'm pretty new to modelling and I have to admit that after reading the answer 5 times or so, I still don't quite understand everything. :) While I have managed to reconstruct something that leads to similar results, it feels like a trial-and-error approach to get…

To be honest, My Personal op is to go with whatever makes the job look good and fast. However, I usually go with supporting loops for the sole reason, that I feel as if I have more control over my mesh, and I like being in control. of it. Supporting loops tend to also work better for me because you can decide how smooth…
If you dont want to start from scratch you could use the first 2 steps of what frankpolygon suggest and conform your points to that form either manually or with something like shrink wrap or any other tool that snap verts to surface this way you dont have to match edge loop just need the proper size form .Red part is part…
Hey guys, im just a bit stuck on how to go about finishing this panel, the cylindrical holy bits are how I want them and overall it meshsmooth's alright, but think I could have taken a better aproach, like worked off a grid a bit more, instead of fanning out my loops in all directions, so really im just wondering what the…
I know its in this thread, But i can't find it for the life of me. Can someone go over the best way to make a perfect (flat head drive) screw head? I've got something Ok. And have had a few different methods work, But my problem is how sharp they are. i can seem to get one with wider edges once you zoom out from it. Cause…
I'm trying to learn Modo, and my go-to when learning a new software is to try and model a gun, but this is making me want to put my head through a wall and give up. I used booleans to punch out all of the rectangular sections as well as the big cylinders. I've been going back through and triangulating it, but when I try to…
Hello guys, Is there any way I can improve the edgeflow on this part? As you can see, I have some quads which look rather triangular (1 & 2). And besides that, I think I might get in trouble when I start adding loops for my highpoly. So before I continue this part, I want it to look perfect. Any suggestions for a better…
@izmuze The short answer is: the vertical support loops are causing pinching where they meet the curve of the leading edge of the wing. Terminate these support loops closer to triangular notch, delete the remainder of the loop and leave the resulting triangles near the corner of the notch. Here's a break down of this…
