It's been a while and I haven't posted anything lol, wanted to have something of value to show to thank you all for your feedback, went back and started the textures from scratch, did some Overwatch studies and tried to figure out how they textured their stuff. Here is my interpretation.
Still found some time to work on this one after buying Overwatch today... Main part of what I did is the fire/lava effect. Tried to make it look more like lava and gave it a little glow. Still not there yet with the effect, but it's atleast better than it was before imo. Cheers!
Howdy folks, wanted to showcase my finished product: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/q9wyoR I was going for an Overwatch style and keeping to the reference material, and got some great feedback from folks about composition and lighting. More feedback is always welcome from all you lovely folks.
Thanks Daniel ! Yes I always use references even if I create patterns or original materials. Here is my cartoon entry for the substance share challenge. I have try to create an Overwatch texture which can be use on a lot of architectural elements.
Sup yall, there's a mentorship class starting in the fall for Game Animation at a place called KYOSIL. Here's a link to a Q&A with the fall instructor:
https://www.kyosil.com/markusqa He's worked on Wolfenstein, Overwatch, and Anthem among others. There's only 6 slots left! (They have Feature Animation mentorship classes…
You definitely want to submit work reasonably close to what the studio creates. However, I'd recommend thinking in terms of art styles, rather than focusing all your effort at a particular studio. That's not to say doing something specifically Overwatch-inspired is a bad idea, just that you shouldn't think it's necessary.
Could use some advice on this. I'm doing retopo and was planning on doing the hip parts of the belt as separate geo, but now I'm thinking of making it part of the body because it could be a problem area for deformations. Haven't set a hard polycount for myself, but I'm aiming for something like Overwatch. Progress so far:
Monday morning I decided to do a sprint model from concept and this was the result. I'm quite happy with the outcome and will take this further soon. I'll be using a Trim Sheet on this too The concept I referenced was on page 157 from The Art of Overwatch, Vertical Planter Concept
First of all I really love this  Nausicaa's one of my favs. With the hair although it's pretty good, it could be better, go take a look at the female characters in Overwatch and Paladins, they're a pretty good example of what I think you're going for
Hi everyone :) It is a work I do to improve my knowledge of anatomy in my spare time. I tried to sculpt with inspiration from the Overwatch character style. If you want to see more details or see my other works, you can check the link; https://www.artstation.com/artwork/VgaxAZ
