Hm, yeah. I've never seen them used that way. But i still feel that they don't really fit in you setting. You've created a pretty poor feeling, in a good way :P, and the water tanks feel like they just don't fit. I tried to find a picture of what i meant, but couldn't. It's something you would fin in the favela for…
Slave_Zero your right about many thing and that the style is sort of "off" on some elements like the fence. I did a repaint of the door and stones and the open sign. About the handle on the door I really don't know how to make it less flimsy hehe. I think it fits the door. I also made room for the stone so the have own uv…
just finished a massive job on baking the landing gear/bay doors and sorting out a lot of other crap. just realized its 6:40 in the morning.. Time just flies when youre having fun huh? :poly142: anyways i thought it would be a shame to go sleep without posting a pic first: ill post up some proper pics tomorrow after i bake…
I would love to see you guys coming up with awesome moss! That's great, thanks! It kind of depends on the moss texture you use, but basically the more you get to the top layer, the lower(increasingly) the opacity should become. The top layer depicting the tips of your moss, and all the other layers letting you see through…
Hah! Small world Sukotto! I was checking your portfolio out and saw you worked at reactor zero? We're practically neighbors(I work at a game studio about 30/40 minutes from R-zero) and I work with a few programmers who used to work there as well. Anyway enough of my rambling. I just wanted to say best of luck and I hope…
Well it turns out that the model I made did not really have anything to be baked down on. Maybe I would have saved 10 polygons, but it would be in the scene 4 times, and saving 40 polygons is kinda useless on desktop. I am going to start using Photoshop to draw a detail normal map with some designs. I will let you all know…
i tried 40+ different normal maps for one model, all export import combinations. at the and, i managed to get normal map work without seam, but i dont now what i did hahahah... all maps were 2k but the one that was working was about 600kb, while others were 7-8mb... can someone tell me what i did i do? :-) WHAAAAAT EDIT:…
I think a big problem with the challenges (on every website including this one) are that the communities have gotten WAY TOO LARGE. It used to be there were about 30-40 entries in a cgchat or polycount competition, and everyone would look at and comment a bit on everyone else's work. Now there's 1000 entrants and it's such…
Wasn't sure if you wanted to work in zbrush or not...but to save time on the tires I would do it in max or maya using the Bend modifier...that way you only have to make 1 tread pattern...duplicate it 40-50 times..and bend them all at once... http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/maya/tire/index.html the only downside…
Are you aware of the advanced vertex blending material DVD i released? IT goes into this in much more depth, and also shows you how to make more efficient materials. The one u have now is over 100 instructions, but if you did it a different way you can get the same effect with 70 instructions. you can find it at…
