Looks like you have mirrored the second plait geo in the wrong direction unfortunately as it's not interlocking, try mirroring it front to back when the meshes are next to each other, I don't know max axis I'm afraid :( you have strands going into one another at the moment where as if you look at mine it ties into itself.… -

Ok, I took a look at your file. The shading issue can be fixed in a few steps: 1. Select the mesh layer that your character is on. 2. Go to the Shader Tree Tab and under the Render Node Delete the "01 - Default (Material)" Node. I think this material is created when importing via FBX from another app. Modo is probably… -

Okay I think easiest ways to do this is, to put both pieces in same place on 0,0,0 axis and sculpt in the clean piece, and then make a layer in zbrush and sculpt in damage details over. As a result I will be able to see where damaged part is and will make it easier to control the process. By doing that I will avoid having… -

and lets not forget you can frickin define rule sets like edge loop constraints, edge to axis constraints, linear flow pinning or regular pinning that are all incorporated in the relaxing algorithm. mine too, its super fast workflow wise if not the fastest application I know besides perhaps silo. hm some forms remind me more of dogs then horses, the head works in front but doesn't from the side, the side view works overall better then the front and back angles, it's just way to skinny and thin on the X axis, horses have really massive bodies, no matter what kind of horse they are all pretty massive and gigantic -
