Good info - Never thought of that. Is that pretty much a cert from experience? How about those that request, say 1-3 years studio experience, and you have an internship and some freelance experience. Is there a good chance if applying? I'm not referring to games here, but it should still apply.
Thanks Ezikyl. ive finished this up and applied it to the MP9. Submitted on the workshop here if you want to show some love. A couple of variations of the pattern applied... I've found the best results happen from not allowing any rotation. that way most of what it randomly generates is pretty interesting.
Looks promising! Being a demon I don't know if this applies but his muscles around his shoulder are strange. The biceps usually connects in the arm pits and the deltoid usually covers that certain area where his biceps are now. Then again, he's a demon and stuff so this might not apply!
As a test for me can you do this: Go to Mesh Display > Set Vertex Normal (Options) In the options go to Edit > Reset then apply it. If the mesh goes black, re-open it and change the X value to -1 and apply it again. If it works, perform a merge vertex command and delete history.
well the most basic method which works good in most cases is to model it as simple polygons. Then apply a shell modifier (3ds max) or sth similar to give it thickness and then apply some subdivision (e.g. turbosmooth in max) to make it smooth and round the edges. The are more ways to do it of course ...
Hmm the FBX files I use come with their own tangent space, which is used instead of the default setting. edit: also I seem to recall there used to be an "apply" button in the material pallet. Was pretty useful for applying a material to multiple subobjects at once. Its gone now though :(
"Where do you apply the 3 texture files (exactly) as the only thing i can do is apply the blinn and it changes the texture to a blinn and doesnt show up the diffuse or specular, How do you get them to work.. And where do you place the normal map."
embrace the diferences!! :D :D on a side note.. this shit is the bomb.. i mean. its like after effects.. the aplication of filters is non destructive. meaning that you apply filters to layers, but later you can change settings on the filter you applied. just like in after effects:D
Well, ya, you could still do that with a 1/4 cyl. Just apply your texture to tile from one corner to the other on a plain cyl, then start cutting in details. Pretty much what I was talking about above, just with the texture applied from the start.
Heck ya you're ready, apply away. Neat art! The junior character artists at my work don't know rigging, skinning, blend shapes. Would be good to know I guess, but still, start applying now. Keep working on more personal stuff though!
