Do anybody have any tips or tricks on how to keep curved surfaces smooth when doing sub-d modelling? I just started my first sub-d car but i get in trouble when i add too many edge loops that i need for detail, i start to move one and then another and suddenly it has lost its shape. Any tips and tricks anybody would like…
dude if you want to be a bettr artist/improve your art etc just stop posting on GD and actually do some art. Its not induced self tricks that will give you the discipline not to procrastinate etc. I see lots of people coming up with "tricks" to "impove their art" but then they either just post on GD or ask technicall…
I look at building kits in these ways: * What biome I am trying to create? * How much variation do I need to make this biome look natural? So in your case if it was say an area like this: Think about the types of parts I would need. * I see many window types, but I think I can get away with 7. * 10~12 doors. * Wall…
I think it's good skill to learn in general and indeed helpful in certain circumstances when you need to re-think the model shape but in actual production such details doesn't even require hi res models to bake from . You will be wasting you time for a sake of "sport" of perfect topology . People do this lately with edge…
Do you remember how some big action movies from the 90s had those neat miniature & matte painting cities that were heavily exaggerated? I would like to make something like that for 1990s Los Angeles. My pitch is an open-world, third person, action game / simulation set in megacity LA. There are many great films set in LA…
don't let anybody trick you up using fancy words have them explain the contract in plain language and ask questions until they can explain it simple enough that it is clearly understood. There are no stupid questions. It is stupid to not ask questions for fear of looking stupid/inexperienced/not wanting to be a bother.…
looking nice! one trick i try and do when textureing is bumping up the self illumination. only a suggestion but i personally like to paint in blues / greens in the shadows rather than get the black shading that the default shader gives you. this trick would work really well on the fur to make it feel more soft. Try it out…
Glad you liked it! I think it's a fairly useful trick to not have super flat edges. Not sure about the baking and texture how-to, though. I'm fine with baking but I'm fairly new to the Substance workflow, so I cannot really share any magical tricks... Let's see how it goes, still a long way to go. Maybe I find something…
