Thanks earthquake for your info, but in the final the renderer will always render in maya mode 3 smooth preview.. so the map will show the seems again :/ I just tried not to use the hard uv borders script and use soft edges instead.. that seems to help on the matter.. but I fear to use the benefits of the hard uv border… -

i don't think this is an hard edge versus soft edge issue, in general if you have hard edges you NEED uv splits , but you don't have to use hard edges on UV splits, thay can bring you advantages, but in this case and as your model looks exactly the same from all angles those advantages fade away. -

This is a limitation of the transparency technique we use for Viewer, which is mean more for hair than soft transitions like this. One thing you can do is set your sky mode to color and then match the background color with the ground plane so the noisy isn't visible. Set specular intensity and fresnel to 0 if you don't… -

I did a test and put the TurboSmooth just after Editable Poly and the result was actually better On top, it bends the crap out of the mesh and the holes have soft bevels around them... Here's some more progress. Still getting use to Modo so update are gonna be slow. Great program BTW lot of tedious things I did in Max took less time in Modo. Modo's falloff or soft selection I'm having frustrations with though but other than that it's a great program. Rendering seems a bit faster than Max's too. -

I'd say yes. Soft has a pretty bright future in the modeling area, since they just previewed modeling in ICE at 3December (autodesk event).
