it's all subjective. Try it and decide for yourself. NEVER do something because everyone else is doing it. That's just general advice for life though. Don't choose a tool just because 'rockstar' artists use them. Choose it because you like it. They're all tools for the artist to use. It's almost like different mediums.
totally agree with that. Location plays a big part for me when choosing jobs. There has to be a balance between location/salary/type-of-work. (assuming I'm in a position lucky enough to choose). If the environment doesn't fit you then you'll probably not last long in a place, or you better bring an oil-rig worker mentality…
the difference being you'll get a little pop-up from steam asking you if you'd like to participate in their hardware survey, which you can choose to decline and then carry on playing your games. In order to decline EA's scan you would have to choose to "Not Agree" with the TOS and therefore not install/use Origin.
so you're upset that people who use vray for low poly rendering are using vray, because you know how to use vray but choose not to use vray to render your low poly art and by them using vray when you choose not to use vray, it makes everyone else cheaters? Vray.
File > Save As... > And in the drop down where you would normally choose your file type choose 3ds max 2010, 2011, ect. Hope that helps :) Note: There are bugs with the way materials are displayed in the viewport when you bring a 2012 file over to 2010. Nothing too major though. Should render fine. :)
Nevermind, figured it out. Knald is working with the latest video driver. Download the latest driver from nVidia website. Install it even if you have the latest driver already installed, when you are prompted, don't choose express installation, instead choose "clean installation." Reboot when the install is complete and it…

Well, first off. The tank is looking great. Nice modeling. As for which concept to choose. I'd opt for number 1 - the only reason being, the tank right now is very symmetrical, i think 1 would help break that up a bit and create some contrast. However, I'm sure which ever you choose will still look good.
Even easier: Select mesh & bone you want to add. Under the skin menu is "Add influence", choose that with the option box and make sure to choose "lock weights" or somwething - to ensure it just adds the bone & doesn't auto weight it. Unfortunately it only works one bone at a time, something I fixed a long time ago with a…
Hey, I'm thinking of buying a display tablet on a budget. I have to choose between XP-Pen Artist 15.6 and Wacom Cintiq 16. I'm going to be using it for sculpting, texturing and sometimes drawing. I watched a lot of reviews but I just cant choose. The obvious one is XP-Pen due to it being a lot cheaper. What do you think?
