I was thinking this exact same thing too, but I then realised that if this were the case, pressing C would (sometimes) come with a significant delay. Maybe I'm just low on VRAM but changing between layer channels takes ~10-15 seconds on my current project. So if they were linked I wouldn't be able to cycle through channels…
why did you buy it in the first place though? this kind of device has been around for a long time but has IMO never made much sense in CG due to lack of support/conflict with the very way apps like zbrush handle user interaction. even for navigating 3ds max or maya it is very finicky and just plain slow to work with.…
Hey everyone, I'm back in Painter after a long time. I have use height as displacement turned on which is what I need for my project, but now I need to make a layer that doesn't displace the geometry, basically a photo to normal map layer. Is there a way to do this without using the height channel and causing displacement.…
The material library is in an intermediate state right now. To paint using projection, choose the projection tool in the main toolbar (under the eraser, or hit '3') and then choose your material. I'm not sure I understand the issue about scaling. You an scale any projected material using the S key and the right mouse…
Thank you for the info Kandar, though i was referring to multi-MESH object importing, so the user isn't forced to combine all their meshes into one mesh object before importing (for working on things like vehicles, mechs and characters with armor ect) Though i am happy to see GoZ on the roadmap. And yes, PTEX would be…
I bought Substance Painter in the recent sale (about two weeks ago) and I think it's great so far. It has mostly replaced Photoshop for me as I think it's a lot handier to be able to paint in 3D and have layers update across all the different maps in real-time (in addition to the substance effects and particles). However…
Thanks for the link, I didn't know there was an official place for ideas and feature requests. The website doesn't seem to work in Firefox for me though (could just be some of my plug-ins interfering), but it worked well in Chrome at least. Alright, I didn't know you could do that already. It seems to work pretty much…
Nothing too fancy, but painted this in Substance Painter. It was an interesting crash course into a new piece of software. I gotta admit, I am digging the work flow. Its quite enjoyable. Could definitely use a bit of optimization (some cases it nearly choked on itself) and a higher texture resolution (which is on its way),…
Hi guys, I'm having some issues with painter lately. I recently switched my gpu (went from a 560Ti to a GTX970) and had 2 instances where the pc froze (both screens went either full white or grey) and it stoped respoding. Even pressing the reboot button didn't do anything. Do you guys have any incidents like this one…
Maybe I'm missing something, but is it possible to select/copy/paste parts of image in 2D view like in PS? Because for now, to create layer mask, I need to paint it manually. But I want to use information from Height map for example, to mask some elements... Also, can I paint in specified direction? Like when you press…
