You don't work in the industry, but our cumulative decades of experience in exactly what we're talking about doesn't matter because you've decided we're all wrong. Gotcha. You have the stubborn opinionatedness and misdirected piss and vinegar of the young, and I am now done with you. I'll go back to my job knowing what I'm…
Yeah... um, hasn't there been an outcry for over a decade now to do some actual remake of FF7 for the -at that moment- newer gen console? 10.... just never really felt like it would be at the top of that list. Though it would be kinda sad if the game industry was pulled into the time-warp that is the movie industry, which…
Excellent! I love your work ethic man. Boom boom no delay got everything on the right track. lovely. the low res looks sick and the proximity it has to the high is sexy. But looking at the pose, i wish his waist were tinnier than it is now....arch his back more, add more dynamism to the pose i.e. brink again, excellent…
A co-worker picked it up during lunch yesterday and we checked it out. Not everyone dug it, but I thought it was pretty cool. Kind of like the Duke Nukem of this decade (Feels odd saying that considering Duke just came out, but Duke was very intentionally 90's). It's pretty damn funny and I enjoyed it. Haven't picked it up…
I think this really depends on the size of the object in the game. If it's a "power-up" item for a top down/iso game then it's a bit little to noisy, if it's for an ego-shooter it's fine. Personally I would try to add some highligh colors (e.g. some green or blue parts). This would also make its function easier to read.…
Thanks the the comments :) I agree, the water ended up looking viscous and jellylike, and it was hard to strike a balance while keeping the apparent depth from the normal map that prevents it looking like a basic decal. The drips would be awesome to include, but I didn't get any further than Cryengine's default rain in the…
Fraid there's bad news buddy. The Quixel team made a post the other day to let everone know that someone on the team had a bit of unwanted personal mishap/upset. Consequently there's been a delay and nothing will be coming till further notice. I expect they'll issue a new date when they can bang their heads together and…
Time for a new update! Sorry for the long delay on this one. I finally moved to the legs and got his upper legs and knees done. You obviously wont see the cylinder within the knee and the back side of the knee will be uncovered to allow for the leg to bend. Here is a picture with the rest of the armor: Next update i should…
Another good resource is the documentation on any of the offline renderers. They have been physically-based or 'PBR' for decades - albeit pre-disney BRDF and GGX microfacet reflections(with most now having moved to the metal/rough approach) The concepts of energy conservation, light bleed/bounce, and…
You could try adding several materials, like the tank has dark tracks(or is that just the shadow?) and white decal thingies. You can also mess a bit with the light position and brightness to get some lighter colors in there, like getting some more ridges highlighted. And slightly offtopic, i think you need to make the hood…
