@Specter: Ah! Installing 32bit VC++ did it, and running the program and checking disable services seems to have stopped the issue. One point of confusion though: Do I need to have a certain set of programs selected in there, beyond wisptis, or does it automatically disable the programs that are causing the problem?…
Hmm. Maybe I will upgrade this weekend then :D . 32GB of ram would be pretty nice as well. I was looking at the Intel roadmap and the next big jump would be 8 core processors for $300-$400 (basically the 5960x but not $1000); however I don't see that happening for another year or so..
This article is a bit wrong. First, for a correct linear workflow, you have to degamma your diffuse textures, else by setting input at 2.2 in the gamma/lut or setting them individually. Else indeed, your diffuse textures get gamma corrected twice to 4.4 hence they're all washed out. And If you use a color from color…
1080 over Vega all day. The 1070 Ti is a good choice too, about as powerful as the 1080 but can sometimes be found for $100-150 or so less. I just did a 8700k/32GB/1070 Ti build here and it's awesome. New Nvidia 1180/2080 or whatever it is called should be announced this summer but unlikely to be available until fall, so…
1. Yes, I have taken the role of Game Design Director. 2. The setting is sorta like a modern Jetsons, being set in 2254 A.D., except that it's not like the whole world has been absorbed in technology, or robots have taken over the earth or some kind of steampunky thing. It's just your average world. 3. There are no levels…
Wow I didn't finish the vid yet but it is mind-boggling. The art direction and aerial perspective are enviable. It's amazing what an intimate relationship with beauty this asian guys have. looks very realtime though. lots of popping all the time, animations get clunkier further away etc. I mean god of war 1 had some…
Whenever you ad a 32bit texture into the Color slot in Maya, it automatically plugs the same texture into the Transparency slot. So yeah, just breaking the connection solves the problem.
@Chase why a 720 that's a weak card, but ya my system is similar i7 3770k, 32gb ram and gtx 670, built it last year for a little over $1000cad if you plan on working in game engines I would say gtx 760 or better, or if you really need to save money the 660ti
Ok for the extremely small % of users out there who actually do upgrade cpus, here is some raw math for you. I currently have a 775 Q6600 quad core intel cpu. If I want to upgrade that to something significantly faster that means I have to buy a Q9650. Cheapest price on that new is $275 on eBay. This gives me 147% of the…
