@Specter: Ah! Installing 32bit VC++ did it, and running the program and checking disable services seems to have stopped the issue. One point of confusion though: Do I need to have a certain set of programs selected in there, beyond wisptis, or does it automatically disable the programs that are causing the problem?… -

Hmm. Maybe I will upgrade this weekend then :D . 32GB of ram would be pretty nice as well. I was looking at the Intel roadmap and the next big jump would be 8 core processors for $300-$400 (basically the 5960x but not $1000); however I don't see that happening for another year or so.. -

This article is a bit wrong. First, for a correct linear workflow, you have to degamma your diffuse textures, else by setting input at 2.2 in the gamma/lut or setting them individually. Else indeed, your diffuse textures get gamma corrected twice to 4.4 hence they're all washed out. And If you use a color from color… -

1080 over Vega all day. The 1070 Ti is a good choice too, about as powerful as the 1080 but can sometimes be found for $100-150 or so less. I just did a 8700k/32GB/1070 Ti build here and it's awesome. New Nvidia 1180/2080 or whatever it is called should be announced this summer but unlikely to be available until fall, so… -

@Chase why a 720 that's a weak card, but ya my system is similar i7 3770k, 32gb ram and gtx 670, built it last year for a little over $1000cad if you plan on working in game engines I would say gtx 760 or better, or if you really need to save money the 660ti -
