you should make some nice tools (screw driver, wire cutters, soldering iron, wire spool & solder, etc.) and place them about on the table like you just finished putting it together. would work well for the animation. maybe even a table/desk lamp. i'd love to see this come to life even more than it has already! -

I don't understand your first issue. Merge and import are two different commands. I also don't recommend using the .3ds format for any reason. Correct me if I'm wrong - I don't think there needs to be a specific naming convention to the individual files. I just went with Torchlight's convention (you can look and see how their files are named). In my case, I named my material > name_diffuse, and then in the material editor > name_mat as well as the object > name.… -
