Maybe a GPU lockup? I had something similar happen on 7 with my APU machine that I'm using for graphics programming and neither numlock nor the power button worked afterwards. -

Thanks Mike :) Progg: I didn't use any fancy rendering. I pretty much set up some point lights (same as omni in max) and clicked the render button. -

Not sure if this is why your hotkey isn't working, but try hitting the "Keyboard Shortcut Override Toggle" button on the main max toolbar, just left to the snaps toggle, then try your hotkey. -

If you are working in editable poly, you can select the vertices, look in the command panel under Edit Geometry, and use the Make Planar buttons to align it to the X, Y, or Z axis. -

I got the GIFV to work for you. Apparently we just need to paste the raw URL for these files, we don't need the "Attach Image" button. Nice model, keep it up! -

If I'm using textools and can't merge the objects to do this, I use the get/set button to pick the density from one object and then apply it to the others. It's located next to the normalize tool. -
