Render is done in Marmoset with an HDRI which is part of a new pack that I will release soon. Here's a quick wire screengrab. Not very clean though and the upper receiver tube was done in Zbrush so it has an obscene amount of polys.
Lol really? I've kinda picked up that a decent number of people speak only french there, but isn't there a massive amount of english speaking people there as well? Like maybe... 50% or more? Bad news if not :( (starts learning french)
There is a decent amount of info here https://www.artstation.com/artwork/59Nz1 They mention modular meshes for the blocky pieces below, decals for the eroded stone, probably a bunch of different texture blends for everything to give variation, detail maps too.
How can one texture take three weeks? Thats an insaine amount of time. Id say at most two days. I wonder whats taking 2-3 weeks... An employer wouldnt agree with that timeframe :P
Another tiger update, I've been adding detail no the legs trying to make it look more interesting. Any critique is welcome I'm still trying to nail a nice silhouette and just have the right amount of detail on the parts.
Did some metal tweaking tonight. Sry for peeps following this project, I know progress is being really sluggish but I've got a decent amount of IRL shit at the moment that's taking up a lot of my free time.
You're not using transfer maps are you? That's the easiest way to bake AO in Maya but it does take a decent amount of time. You'll be able to bake normals and AO from your high resolution crate if you have one.
@CybranM hey sorry for the poor image, i just wanted to focus on the overall expression. this amount of detail is already twice the resolution than it will show up in the final image XD here's an idea of what it's gonna look like:
they did do a founders pack awhile back you payed a certain amount and you got a bunch of stuff, also there is a monthly subscription for the game if you want to go that way im not sure what that gets you though.
5k triangles is really low polyfor currentgen in a cave this big. For the rock only I would easily spend around 30-50k triangles. The amount of carving into the rock you would be able to make with that budget would be priceless. :)
