Anatomy practice. Plus it gives you an idea of how to create clothes, armor and other stuff and lay it down on your character. Also, unless you are professional 3d artist who can actually view the concept drawing and make the 3d model exactly according to it, it is best to make a base model and then work on clothes of it.
@slosh Thanks man, I did some changes to the proportions. I hope it looks better now. and I guess I'm ready to put the armor on :) I'm still thinking of making my own concept of Rengar, I don't know if I can start a new thread or should I do it in here...
the texture on this weapon: http://www.creativecrash.com/marketplace/3d-models/weapons-armor/guns/machine-gun/c/heckler-koch-416 Is clearly stolen from my website here: http://martinh.se/hk416.html . It even has the same errors from floating geo. The model seems different but the texture is clearly stolen.
She's pretty freakin sweet man! I'm especially enjoying the helmet design. I kind of wish the metal parts of her armor had a bit more separation from the rest of the uniform. Could of helped breaking up the silhoutte more and the emphasized hard edges might of added an interesting dynamic between the too.
Hey Jmiles ! Amazing work ! I've a question : How much time did you spend on the armor basemesh in 3dsmax? And all the details on the basemesh ( like spikes, cercles on the shouler, .. ) , after import that in Zbrush, did you keep all as separate subtools or did you merge them together? Good luck for the Retopo :-)
It's coming along nice :) I got the basic elements so now i'm gonna create the low poly and refine details to the hire one(because i'm using the dynameshed version right now)... But yeah it's coming along nice i think,i need to make the armor pieces after that :) image upload
Thanks guys for the crits. Yea I guess I ran outta steam by the time I got to the boots. Haha, I will fix that tomorrow sometime. I will also post a few steps on how I made some of the Armor pieces later this week. All Zbrush, yea. Planning on a warhammer. Thanks guys :)
I really dig what you having going already! One thought on the spider robot concept is to maybe have it fit with the scene by adding in some kind of armor that looks like classic architecture, like Shadow of the Colossus style. Arches and curves and then under these 'plates' there is mechanics and stuff. Keep it up though!…
Thank you:) Now i'm on searching a good concept art/character sheet, to begin a full character nexgen model. i thinking something armored soldier full of detail. Could somebody suggest me a good character concept art? I don't want to make a fan art for a game, or something like it.
tnx :) , actually it's a schoolproject , the idea behind the script is to make it easier to get topology following a certain shape without having to push vertices. Like details on an armor for example. you model the basicplate, model the details shape and just project it on the curved surface But it has been great so far…
