Sorry no there is no way to make the shadow catcher not affect the DOF currently. If you have Edge Face enabled the transition should be a soft falloff and of course the yellow line does not show up when you render/capture the final image. You can press ctrl+u to disable guides to hide the yellow line too. -

Thanks Torch/Dem, I think I was working with material that was too soft and that gave me a hard time with the skull being that it was a standalone piece. Depends on what you're using the model for, doesn't it? If it's going into a game, soft normals are what you want, so the vertex count isn't ballooned into a perf-killer. If it's going into a render, or into a normalmap, then subdivision is key so you get smoother curvature. Doesn't matter that the flat bits are more… -

Try setting the game to run in maxqualitytexture mode. By putting -MAXQUALITYMODE in the shortcut. This basically runs the game with all the textures at maximum.
