In my opinion your opinion stinks. You get a library of procedural assets (read: infinite variations within their defined scope) that are completely editable, with tons of tweaking options and with an interface that makes incorporating them in scenes super fast. FOR FREE
It's blobby, doesn't have any clear defined shapes. Instead of making everything smooth and round, add some interesting shapes here and there. And like Andrew said, take note of the anatomy of real animals. Such as the inset fins, and that their mouths are 'longer'.
Ahhh that horse icon is creepy. The painterly stuff is nice, and the warm/cold colours on the final piece are great. Maybe try defining the edges a little to get rid of some of the floaty feeling. It would really help make the images pop.
I'm referring to Depth from a definable Near Plane/Far Plane. Explain what you mean by both. Scene would be depth to farthest point being rendered? And "depth of pixel" from nearest to farthest within one object?
doesn't it depend on the studio? I mean, if I was joining EA I'd probably go on the smart side, and if it was some indie/studenty type company jeans and t-shirt. its definately possible to be too smart as has been mentioned
Agreed, You definately need some more color. Heres a church that is "grey" but you can still see all the different colors still in the walls. It would also be cool to add some kind of ivy growing up the walls.
I'm definately gonna be picking this game up when it hits the shelves. I can't wait to see all the hard work you lot have put into it, trailers and CG certainly sold the game to me instantly in the first place.
If you really have to do that particular face, and can't find a higher rez, you could always do a paintover in photoshop so that you have a higher res. If accuracy is your goal, having other views is definately a must.
Hmm.. I would definately go for a minimum of 500W power though. I think the GeForce 9800GTX and quadcore want a few hundred each, if I recall correctly. I got a quadcore + 9800GTX and I have a 600W powersupply.
Nice start. I do have a crit for the fountain, I'd make it more interesting. It seems pretty plain-Jane. Add more geometric detail for the lip. Try to define it's "age". Here are some fountains from that time period:
