I think the lower half of the design is boring, it's just a pair of trousers and sneakers. You could try to add some scifi elements or traditional samurai armor parts to those. Also he feels too short for me, maybe reduce the head size or check the proportions, unless that's what's you are going for.
another character I'm working on after hours. Studying a bit of rhino skin and trying to get that sorted out. Will probably add more armor, maybe do a one horned variant on the helmet to see if it works to make it look like a rhino and various other things. Maybe give him a mace of doom???
Been quite awhile, had a hectic week recently but here is my current progress on the character :) Planning to add more details to the armor (scratches, dents, etc) , Retexture the skin, and Add some sculpted detail to the face. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as i'm currently adding details and making adjustments.
that fur paintover looks good. in addition to that, the biggest thing that stood out to me is lack of spec or proper surface identity. right now the whole thing looks like sort of matte clay like surface. also, as daphz mentioned the sculpt needs to be bit more crisp and defined to hold up with the armor.
Hm. I guess you have to have a pretty robust physics rig/system to have it handle anything that isn't part of the human body. I was always under the impression their armor was also hand/mocap animated. Cool stuff, though. It's too bad development workflows aren't shared more often.
Here is another image of your model with the proportion head figure that may help you out some. One thing about the suit is that if you were to bulk up the shoulders putting armor or shoulder pads etc. It would create a sense of intimidation and a stronger character not to mention that it would be kick ass. -46th
Very nice heads shimmer. I love how much personality and attention you gave them. The eyes seem too close, the inner corner of the eye should align more with the start of the nostril. Could you please post the flatz of this armor guy? Some seriously nice effect you got.
I dont particulary like it. It has this generic actionfigure feel to it. And the lowerbody is connected to the upperbody by only the tiny spine? Why the hell it has what seems to be heavily armored thighs and chest when you can just split its spine and pretty much immobilize it. Im just not buying this design, sorry.
to me his lower section (hips and down) look somewhat skinny compared to the rest of him. Especially with that bulky armor on top. Also, the way you modeled his knees looks like the pads would be bending as well. Maybe have them as a seperate piece that is parented to the knee joint when rigged.
