She's pretty powerfully built, but I think it works for a character who works on the land, rides horses around and whatnot, although you could probably relax the shoulders a smidgen. As for the ever present calls to make her soft, girly and generic, I'd keep her tough-as-nails and give her some more suitable attire instead. -

I restarted Maya for the eleventh time and suddenly the problem was gone. Still have no idea what caused this issue but at least it's working properly again. EDIT: Ok, found out what was wrong, really silly (as usual). I had activated soft selection by mistake and the "Viewport color" checkbox in the tool options was… -

you can still straighten the UV even if it has holes in it. I am not familiar with the program you are using there. In maya I would grab the border UV's, align them straight, pin them, and then optimize the mesh until it's all even. You could even do it manually by hand using soft select and transform tools, if you had to. -

The shadows seem soft for how how the light is (usually high sun means sharper shadows, lower sun more blurry) I would play with making things pop, dont really get a sense of depth. Maybe some more contrast, and bringing the camera out further to getting some subtle fog/blur in there. Great work though! -

Our company provides free soft drinks. Coca-cola, Fanta, etc. As much as we can drink. Which seemed like a good perk at first, and I suppose helped during crunch, but now I kind of wish we'd subsidise a gym membership or something instead. That SPIKE thing looks pretty daunting, PixelGoat :P -

Neat truck. Try and work on your lighting a bit more. The way you have rendered what I assume is a glossy paint job is not representing such. Try and make the highlights tighter and less soft. Everything looks sorta like felt or velvety maybe. I donno. Photo referencing is key when learning to paint new materials. Cheers. -

cheers guys thanks Mop, yeah the matcap is metal dust by ralf stumpf. It has a really nice soft look compared to a lot of the other virdigrised bronze materials i've seen, it's also quite nice to sculpt the high frequency details in thanks stimpack, yip in the brush menu there is a backface masking button, it should really… -
