A base spec map certainly can be baked. For instance, if you have multiple materials applied to different surface types on your highpoly with base spec values, that content can be baked down. Though I don't know specifically how in Maya it should be possible. It can't be generated arbitrarily from the mesh content though…

We have been working hard improving our images as well as adding new content, We have added a lot of square textures over the past few weeks and are adding a lot more in the future. Not sure about the speed issue, but the site itself crapping out might be because I am currently updating the gallery content. I'm combining what images I can into single images to streamline the whole process. I've cut out about a dozen images so far without really losing any content. Thanks for takin a look.
i have only played fable for an hour or two so im not the one to pass judgement on its content. However i think its not so easy to blame the game not doing so well on simply hype. imo its always content that matters in the end. Look at half-life2. Hype? yes. did it deliver? hell yea.
