this is awesome, really cool game! would be fun if you guys explored it after this, and push the "9 lives" element a bit more with puzzles and level design (gameover/fail after 9 spent lives). love the art and animations, really slick!
@Renato: nice finish. are you going to pose her? small update. Just blocked in a couple elements to see how they fit. I have some time this week so will shoot for finishing hi res and retopo. We'll see though.
Thanks Aaron! Here's an update to the scene. I'm adding more modular elements, but it's beginning to look a little cluttered. I'm going to have to watch my use of orange in this scene! Gonna make a modular pipeset next to go along the ceilings.
I like the lighting but some parts of the wall look like you just took a wall photo source and just ran it thru a normal map generator without separating key elements. Some of the wall texture looks too noisy.
did you try exporting the model as it is. those look like transparent meshes so it could just be a sorting error. What you can do to fix it if it is a sorting error is detach all the elements and then add them back in vertical order.
Maybe someone can export it as FBX and Collada? I think for binding the mesh to it in and exporting the character you only need the FK bones, right? No need for the whole working rig with IK. Or are there any IK elements used in the engine after export?
id say break up the sharpe lines with a non organic element or two, maybe some grass growing out from between the panels and a trees branches coming over the top of the wall, would give you nice lighting too
depends on the image, really.... with b and w line art usually gif is a smaller compression with a higher fidelity. most limited pallete webpage elements benefit from this too...otherwise, jpg all the way. pngs are the forgotten wave of the 1996 future.
hey that's a great looking texture so far. I dunno if you were planning to do this already, but I'd really like to see some repeated RED elements in the color scheme so that he's primarily red instead of primarily grey
Thanks, I could try a simple texture element to separate and maybe lessen the wear and tear of the room. Is the room way to simple or boring for me to spend time on and should I try to move on to way more complex types of props/environments?
