Still chipping away at this. Forgot to post a vid of my progress. I had a lot of fun doing the vertex deformation on the banners and the hanging bells. https://vimeo.com/84629950 Since the video, I've re-worked the rock/snow shader a bunch to make it cheaper as well as create a variant to let me blend in some gravel/dirt.…
The value updates when you close the dialog. The MaxScript help says to always make sure the dialog is closed when changing render settings. See the not on the top of this page. http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/MAXScript-Help/files/GUID-30AF1E53-5A69-402D-84D6-4D6ECCDD6D20.htm
Also a testimony to how well optimised that engine is, I can run it on my temporary machine (an older laptop with an 840m) - and it runs 50fps+ and looks stunning, and it doesn't feel hindered by the lower end hardware as some other games and engines do.
More progress, been working on the basic lowpoly mesh and UV mapped it, now I'm back at the highpoly making details. After my optimization of the lowpoly I found myself way below my own poly limit, the mesh being at ~8400tris while my own max would be ~10-11k tris. So I'll be giving some geometry back to the lowpoly as…
Its a catchy name "buffalo taxi" I think splatter around the light is too overwhelming , its like a moth effect you cant stop watching it Looks to me that buffalo is taking a break not sure if this is intentional but its in contrast with fast walking guy in front Maybe give buffalo some shine to the eye bring life back to…
This is coming along really sweet man. the only thing that looks out of place to me is the waterfall. The waterfall looks too real to be in this environment and it just stands out too much. Try to make it cartoony as well, make it blue with white wave outlines or something. Kinda like how this guy did it.…
This was more the case for first generation SSDs and not true anymore. Plus, if its a small SSD just for scratch disk, it doesn't really matter does it? Sure maybe it burns out in a few years, get a new one at that point. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6459/samsung-ssd-840-testing-the-endurance-of-tlc-nand 10GB a day for 30…
Oh man, I saw these guys crop up in a couple of places recently, but didn't dare believe there might actually be some people working on an actual project behind it. I mean take a look at the media the guy was advertising it with: Nvidia and 360 logos etc? Source:…
