"Uncle Owen, I think this power supply has a bad capacitor? Look!" Bad caps are pretty common. They're cheap and weak and often they fail and you don't know it. They are often the little cylinder tower parts you see sticking up off the surface. there are usually quite a few of them and if one fails that componant might can…
I could go into serious detail as MY game studio opens in October. In fact I just got back from signing the lease on the office. Points of Interest: 1) It is MORE than a job, it is a lifestyle. Be prepared to make sacrifices, this is true for any business. 2) Every business is scalable. Determine your "wants" then let…
Hey there everyone. Here is something I'm cooking up at the moment. It is going to be a stylized diffuse only 3-D environment with a pumpkin house being the focal point. It will feature vegetation as being the main theme. At the moment I have just a few high polys and lows, but will be cranking out more for it soon enough.…
Alritghy, DOF will be somewhat nuked and replaced with some fog volumes. Odium, should it look more like this (This is from your project Overdose) - http://www.teamblurgames.com/overdose/media/levels/odmp1_2_large.jpg That defiantly gives it a much better feel of snow blowing / in the air etc. so I will defiantly try and…
Try to pick somewhere close by to live, they let you stay in the studios to work on whatever you want till late, so utilise that. The area around Shepards Bush was always busy and I never felt I was ever in danger - very busy area. I would advise you to just be smart as you would anywhere you haven't been before.
Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, Smart Bake wasn’t enabled, so the slowdown isn’t from that. Blender does the same operation in 2 seconds, Maya takes 3 minutes (same rig same machine). That’s not about options that’s about architecture. and please take a second to think about your reply, imagine adding an option to…
WOW thanks for the comments and feedback everyone. @ Snader : haha it is funny you say that because at the begining she was going to be a female Marty McFly. Then I decided to break from that and go my own way. Still kept the vest and if you look the tag on her vest has a little throwback to the original idea. @…
Yo m8, that's a big improvement you've got from the first to the second bust. I've noticed you have a tendency to give your characters a jutting chin. Notice how the jaws on all of your characters, at least those we can see from the profile and clearly determine that, have a jutting chin )the jaw is pushed forward). That…
Some things I noticed: The angle is really odd. Your lighting mainly seems to rely on an HDRI environment (of an empty office/industrial space?) rather than a studio setup. And if you did set lights, then the HDRI works against that. Some of the reflections seem to have little or no Fresnel falloff when facing the camera.…
Found work as a 3d modeler for a local company. Didn't last long when economy went bust, but I'm currently on a sweet gig for a defense contractor (plus the drawing job). In between 3d gigs (studio animator to modeler) I did unrelated jobs to pay the rent and work on my 2d skills off hours. Low pay for sure than what I was…
